Confessions

Definitely have some confessions to share. I don't think I'll ever run out of these:

I haven't made up my bed since I went back to work - Although I am proud of myself of doing an ok job of staying on top of things like housework, this is one thing that I just can't bring myself to do. I think I've just accepted the fact that it will never happen. I wouldn't consider myself an insanely clean person, but I can't STAND clutter. This is hard when you have a new child, a job, and and house to take care of. I feel like I can't fully relax when there's clutter. However, I think sometimes you just have to pick a few things and just let them go. This is one of those things. My friend Laura told me that in Martha Stewart's book, she has a list of things that you should do every day. Of course this list includes making your bed. Sorry Martha.

My dog thinks dirty diapers are toys - Now this is one thing I am not going to let continue, but I was surprisingly calm when I went to pick up the dirty diaper out of the bathroom after bathing Savannah. It was gone and there wasn't a doubt in my mind what had become of it. Yes, there was Banjo sitting happily with the little white (and brown...or was it yellow?) treasure between his paws. Luckily I snatched it away before too much damage was done. I'm normally pretty uptight, but somehow I remained calm, cool, and collected and laughed about the whole thing. Motherhood is definitely teaching me patience.

I broke all the Babywise rules and rocked Savannah to sleep (yes, it's true!) - Those of you who know me, know I'm a huge Babywise fan. It's worked fabulously for our little family. People always complain about how the book says you shouldn't rock your baby to sleep. While rocking of course isn't prohibited, the book does warn against giving your baby sleep crutches. Rock your baby, but not to sleep. Well, I've still done it a few times, in fact, I just got done rocking my little one to sleep and I'll probably do it again in a couple of days. It's just the sweetest thing in the world. Something I don't want her to be dependent on, but oh so lovely. I was telling my pediatrician that we did the Babywise routine. He said, "Something like that is a great thing for babies. The American Heart Association's diet is a wonderful diet. But you can only follow it to a point." Point taken and appreciated. I love my pediatrician.

It's a good thing you and I were never roommates! I've never understood making a bed that you're just going to unmake and sleep in later the same day! I constantly live in clutter, though, so you would just die in my house! Oh, and I laughed out loud when I read that you rocked her to sleep! I'm glad you're not too set on the rules because, like you said, rocking a sleeping baby is one of the greatest joys in life!
