Love Actually

Maybe Valentines Day is a made up holiday that Hallmark and Card Outlets alike have created to sucker us all into spending money. Restaurant menus is over-priced. There's tempting candy everywhere. All the great dinners spots and Romantic Comedys are PACKED.

But I love it anyway.

This time last year I had purchased a little Valentines outfit for Savannah, sure that we would be bringing her home in it.

But she had other plans.

Because of my condition, last year we stayed in and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. It was so wonderful, I thought I'd share it with you this year.

Sometimes, I love staying in, but sometimes, its also nice to go out amidst all the commercialism that is the American Valentine's Day. This year, Tim planned out the whole date (why is that always SO nice?). He arranged for a babysitter (thanks Nana and Papa!), and we went to an early matinee of Valentine's Day. Yes, it was cheesy, and at most a 2 star movie, but it was perfect for the occasion. Then, we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Nape Cafe, a great East Memphis restaurant perfect for a special occasion. To top it off, we ended the night at my favorite dessert spot, Muddy's Bakeshop. It was a crazy night in there. According to the staff at Muddy's, Valentines is like their Black Friday. They even had a contest where you could guess how many cupcakes they would sell that night. I guessed 2750. I wonder how far off my guess is?

So if you are one of those people who love to hate Valentine's Day, I would encourage you to just give up and enjoy it. Even if you don't have that special someone to share it with in the traditional way, I think you'll find (quote stolen from one of my all-time favorite movies) that "Love Actually is all around."

For fun, here's a shot of our pint-sized Valentine.
