Savannah has had a "big girl room" for quite some time now, but I never was thrilled with it. Perhaps it was because we were in such a rush to get her into her toddler room to prepare for (then) baby Caleb, but I wanted to freshen it up a bit. I had been given my grandmother's old furniture and decided it would be a good time to make use of it and have an excuse to makeover Savannah's room. I wanted it to be girly, but also to be something she could grow into, so I decided to go for whimsy shabby chic look. I had always been intimidated by distressing/refinishing furniture, but I decided I would take a stab at it. I went online to figure out what to do and did it piece by piece over a few weekends. That was step one. Next I had to put the color scheme together. I know what I like when I see it, but have trouble putting things together from scratch when it comes to come decor.
Lay Baby Lay to the rescue! I used her
"Pink Sunset and Tangerine Dreams" design template as a starting point and got what you see below. Enjoy!
Savananh's room before. Not bad, but a little blah; not very creative
Savannah's room after! I love it!
Love these cute little prints - all from etsy. Frames were less than $10 a piece from Michaels
Awesome blackout curtains from Jodi Stanford over at Jodi's Window Fashions from the fabric featured on Lay Baby Lay. Find her on Facebook! She is does amazing work, and is reasonable and quick.
