Upon my return to work from maternity leave, I did pretty well for a while preparing dinner. Soon however, my good intentions went by the wayside. I realized that once I finally got back in the groove of things and actually started cooking again, that I was much happier. It's not all due to cooking, but it has a lot to do with it. I recently read a
post on a blog I read from time to time called
The Stand Up Philosopher. It was about how success must be defined more holistically, rather than by income, status, etc, and how we can be happy with our success in creating something beautiful, even if it's just a good meal. This connected with me and made me realize that making meals creates a feeling of happiness and success in me so for me, I can't sacrifice that. This wont be true for all people...I know the thought of coming home and whipping up a meal is tiresome to think about, but for me it's something I love. Anyway, I want to research this whole Holistic Happiness thing more, but I digress. I've created links below for some recipes that have been cooking in my Kitchen lately. I've been on a crock pot kick and thanks to another of my favorite blogs
, A Year of Crock-Potting, I've had plenty to choose from. Here are some of my favorites as of late:
Hope you get to try some of these recipes or at least visit the blog. Tons of great recipes and advice. All pretty simple to make too!

Did you make the end of summer soup? I couldn't find the beans it called for. Where did you find them? Or did you substitute something else?
I did, and I ended up finding the correct beans after the facts. I just substituted canned ones, and I'm sure if you wanted to use dried, you could substitute a bean of your choice. Let me know how it turns out! I have some more recipes I'll be posting soon.
