Big Changes

So thought I'd give an update on all that's going on in the lives of the Conkins lately. As you might have already known, we're expecting baby #2 in November. The morning sickness and fatigue have been in full-swing, but I really can't complain. So far, the pregnancy has felt very similar to my first. Hopefully some of these yucky symptoms will die down soon. We are excited about this week because on Friday, we get to see baby C2 for the first time via ultra-sound. I will be right around 12 weeks, so he/she will actually look like a baby instead of a bean. I might actually even post an ultrasound pic, although I had been opposed to that in the past. People change....

On the house selling front: We got a contract on our house, and we are set to close in June! Whoo hoo! The sale of our house was NOT a result of being pregnant. However, when we found out, we lowered the price 5K and got a contract almost immediately. The whole house buying process was surprisingly stressful. We were back at square one, not even knowing which part of town we wanted to live in, and unsure about a price range. I know. Well, it happened kind of fast, but we ended up putting an offer on a short-sale in Arlington. Wow, I have learned a lot about short sales! It's NOT a quick and easy process. We still don't have a contract on this one, but we are nearing the end of the contract-writing process with the bank. When all is said and done, we will end up getting this house (knock on wood) for 48K under what the home originally sold for. So if you have patience, and know what you are doing, short sales can be a great way to save money.

Let's add another thing into the mix. Earlier this year, I decided I wanted to get my real estate license. So I've been in classes at night on Tuesday and Thursday as well as some on the weekend. I've always wanted to do it, but never found the time or enough motivation. Well, I thought, I'd better do it now, before this next babe comes, or it will be that much harder. So I'm super excited about what the future holds. Yes, I am pretty exhausted most days, but I will be done with classes in May and on my way to licensure soon...just have to pass the test!

Savannah Update: She is quite a wonderful handful these days. She seems to attempt each milestone very gradually and this included walking. She's been taking steps for a couple of months now, but I can officially say now that we have a walker on our hands! She's had a little trouble staying well these last couple of months, but when she feels normal, she's almost always just happy to be in the world. She's a great sleeper, and she seems like she's just soaking everything in. She's not a huge talker yet, but some of her favorite words are kitty, mama, daddy, gee gee (Grammy), and her FAVORITE, Banjo (our Australian Shepherd). She things every dog is "Jo-jo." She has been holding steady at 20 lbs now for 3 or four months. I guess at about the one year mark their weight starts to stabilize a little. She love animals. Recently she's been around a few newborns and had been just fascinated by then. I'm hoping this fascination continues :) She is a great eater, and will eat just about anything. We started giving her a big variety of things right from the beginning, so I think that has helped. She has been bottle free for several months now, only drinking whole milk. I did a happy dance, the day we put up her bottles (I hate washing them!) but that triumph will be short lived as I'll have to break them out again in November! She just tapered down from 2 to 1 nap. Although it's less naps, when she does one, it's usually a monster 2 to 3 hour nap which is nice. So there you have it. A full V update...more to come, but today, I'll leave you with one of my very favorite recent pictures of her. I think it captures her little personality.
