For reasons that will be reserved for another post, Tim and I will be on a tight budget for the next several months. I'm good at planning out budgets, but not so much on following through with them! This adjustment comes at a difficult time because we also have several upcoming purchases in the coming months with our move, and a new baby on the way. So I thought tracking some of my money-saving progress on the blog would put a fun spin on it and keep me motivated to stick to the budget.
One of the transitions we will be making in the coming months is to move Savannah to a "big girl" bed. The new baby will be using Savannah's crib furniture and we will move Savannah to a twin bed. I have to admit; I'm a little nervous about this transition, but we are obviously being forced into it due to baby C2! :) I didn't want to buy a toddler bed (since it would be used for such a short time) but that twin bed seems so high off the ground! I guess I'll figure out the safety and logistics later, but on to the fun part....
I'm not good at thinking of design ideas from scratch, so what works best for me is to find a room/idea that someone else has already created and imitate it. I think I've found the room for Savannah. I found it on Rosenberry Rooms. Most of their stuff is pretty pricey, but I picked a room and am going to see how cheaply I can do it. I have already found a comforter for half the price, but I'm also thinking of having one of my very crafty friends make it for me. I think I can find a bed or headboard from craigslist or a garage sale and paint it that pretty robin's egg blue color. The painting, I don't know if I can recreate more cheaply that what it actually costs, but that just may have to be my one splurge! Here's what I'm thinking....what do you think?

Love it! We moved Emmersen into a twin bed right before Clara was born and it worked out fine. Yes, it is high off the ground and yes, there is a lot of freedom but we put double side rails on the bed. I think we got them from One Step Ahead. Worked out perfectly! She felt more confined as she did in her crib with sides but it did the job of letting us use the crib for Clara.
Eeek! I can't imagine having to put Georgia in a big bed already! Savannah's a really good sleeper, though, so I'm sure she'll be fine! The family I nannied for put the boys on twin mattresses on the floor until they got used to being "big boys." It's not quite as far to fall, just in case!
I love the room idea, by the way! So cute!
Precious!!! I love it! Those cute rooms make me jealous of people with girls. Our big boy rooms are all boy...Oh well! I can't wait to see what it looks like.
