Last week, Savannah woke up Wednesday with 102. Obviously not going to daycare, do I stayed home with her. Meanwhile, Tim's health was on the decline as well. After a trip to the doctor and a supply of antibiotics, I thought we may be in the clear soon. Not so much. Her temperature spiked to 103.9 which was higher that it's ever been. She had been diagnosed with an ear infection along with a stomach bug, but we were starting to wonder if it could be something more serious...we got up every four hours to check her temp and re-dose her with tylenol or motrin.
So Thursday Tim stayed home with her because he was running a fever as well. Then that afternoon her fever spiked to 104.5 which really started to scare me. Apparently the danger zone is 105, so we waited and continued to the every 4 hours monitoring system. Tim had a fever that he couldn't shake, so he stayed home with her again Friday. Finally, her fever broke and started to go down.
But it wasn't over yet.
Between Friday afternoon and Sunday night we experienced the worst fits this child has EVER thrown. It's so rough knowing your baby is hurting or uncomfortable, and not being able to do anything about it. Not to mention the sheer noise is mind scrambling, emotion draining and panic-inducing.
Monday it seemed she was on the road to recovery and was ready to return to daycare. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I was THRILLED to go back to work and have life go back to normal. Phew! What a rough couple of days. I think this weekend will be much better :)
On another note; Savannah has officially graduated to a big girl bed! We didn't want to buy another crib for Caleb so we knew it was time to start the transition. I've always been thick skinned as far as other transitions go, but this one was rough for me. I don't know if I was just scared she would roll off in the middle of the night, or if I was just feeling guilty for changing things up on her, but she did just fine! We put her mattress on the floor and are awaiting the construction of her bed rail (Thanks Papa!).
I know I owe pictures of her new big girl room and of the new house, but I guess I'm just waiting till I'm satisfied...which may never happen.
On the docket for this weekend: Old Venice tonight, friends for dinner tomorrow, FINALLY starting to decorate Caleb's room, and church and a picnic on Sunday. Sounds great to me!
