Crash and Burn

Some of my dear friends have chided me for not keeping them up to date on all our family's recent misfortune (see below post). Fortunatly (or maybe unfortunately!), we have convience of the internet to update our friends and aquaintances on situation such as these. So here it goes..

Dear hubs went to the doctor for a follow up visit yesterday and was immediatley scheduled for surgery which is being compelted as we speak. He will be having screws and plates in his foot and will be in a lot of pain as he recovers. He has been instructed to be off his feet for another 6-8 weeks at which time he'll begin a course of physical therapy. After 5 months, if all goes well, some of the hardware will be removed.

I'm sad to say that he may never run again. If you know him, he has completed a couple of marathons and was hoping to run another one with his twin brother, so this news is a bit crippling, pun intended.

As for me, I'm still gaining more of an appreciation for single moms, still appreciating the fact that he is alive, grateful that my employer values family, extactic that my kids are well now (for the time being!) and praying for patience.
